Dear MG fans this is 'Beastie', a totally standard, unmolested ZT-T 190 V6 with a genuine and verifiable 49,000 miles.

It had belonged to my lady's late husband since December 2007 and transferred into her name in 2012 after his sudden passing. I've been maintaining it for her ever since although she has barely covered 10,000 miles in it over the last 4 years! Its time for a change and something more suited to her needs so 'Beastie' needs a new home.

I have just renewed all the brakes with new Bosch Pads which was an MoT advisory. The rear exhaust box is also an advisory and could do with renewal. The car is very clean, with a smoke and pet free interior.

The bodywork is very good and only has a few minor marks to be expected for a car of this age. The front grill has a crack in it just below the emblem that would repair easily.

In summary:

Sorry if I missed it but have the belts been done on it

Thanks

Its a good question.

I know I've not done the belts since handling the maintenance - I doubt it was done previously. The car runs sweet as a nut with good tension and no belt squeal. Isn't the MG Rover interval 90,000 miles?

90k or every 6 years, whichever is sooner.

My bad then... not done the belts.

Yes the car is stunning (and so is Beastie's current owner!)

I have been intrigued by the engineering in it having been brought up on VW(7), SAAB (2), Citroen(5), Volvo(2), Mercedes(3) and the ubiquitous classic Mini and a pile of varied Roots Group Classics too. The MG ZT is up there on engineering like a quirky BMW, except you need to have to have tiny hands to reach anything that was stuffed inside that body at Longbridge.

Very close to what I am looking for. Shame the belts not done as that makes it too expensive for me.

Exactly what I am thinking add the belts on and your up at the usual money these seem to go for offer made on the bay anyway

A timing belt and tensioner kit is £130 from Eurocarparts. But I presume the surgery involved to fit the kit make it an awkward job.

What price would you have in mind as is? It is a lovely car and with such low miles its got to be worth considering?

Most here would expect to pay around £500 to £600 to have the three belts changed.
