Milestone!
So today is a big milestone for the ZT-T. Today she'll hit the big 100,000 mile mark (160,934 kilometres). So, after nearly 16 years she'll go over the ton!

My Coolant was Dumped int'Sump
For no good reason, the coolant was dumped into the sump during a relatively short trip. There was obviously an overheat, but that was the result rather than the cause. Other than this, everything is in excellent nick. To be sure, I'll get the head skimmed I think. The liner heights vary between a thou or so proud and level with the block. I'll be replacing this with the Payen BW750 type elastomer.
These old MGR elastomers and really very poor. https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/12...4jyq2ptm6g.jpg Anyway, it'll kep me outta mischief for a couple of days. EDIT: It's a 2004 Mk2 1.8 Turbo with less than 40K on the clock. TC |

The damage to the triangular parts of the elastomer, look to be consistent with OAT damage too Brian :D |

I was just about to say the same Bri, looks well eaten!! |
I drove it to Durham, parked up, then proceeded to be absolutely pampered to death in a posh spa.
It is evident why these places are popular with members of the fairer sex, what a totally delightful way to while away a few very pleasurable hours. Wandering about in a fluffy robe and flip flops enjoying Jacuzzi, sauna, light lunch, steam rooms, Rasul Mud rituals, and swim or two :drool4: The day for me culminated in a hot stones essential oils massage...............I can say I've never felt so nice in my entire life, and was a melted puddle afterwards :drool4: I can recommend taking yourself and your missus to something similar, you will score a zillion brownie points, and feel fantastic afterwards Brian :D |
Just put it back in the garage after around a 400 mile round trip the last couple of days to Derbyshire where I was playing with trams and trains.
The ZT makes a good long distance car - traffic was pretty good so was able to sit it on cruise control for a lot of the way. Long distances make a difference to the fuel economy, worked out at around 30mpg which is somewhat better than the 20ish I get around town. |
Washed it clean after a few trips to Wales this week, lots of dead insects stuck to the front  what must they think in that split moment of passing.
Anyways after the wash I clay mitted the whole car, dried the car off & proceeded to add the Meguiars pre waxing polish, did that, then finished it off with Meguiars carnauba wax took me nearly all day, I think it was worth it not really gave it a deep clean since I purchased the NUK in November last year. https://i.imgur.com/yZI83LRl.jpg1 https://i.imgur.com/MFG6rVHl.jpg2 https://i.imgur.com/plA2nzil.jpg3 https://i.imgur.com/tQS016Il.jpg4 https://i.imgur.com/aWiG5aXl.jpg5 https://i.imgur.com/WSEPVMIl.jpg6 https://i.imgur.com/P3STlXbl.jpg7 Its the flames turn tomorrow :} |
Visited Chris at Tayport again, and he fitted the final bits of the wooden walnut fascia. Looks a 100% better than that dull grey "Black Oak" trim, imho. Thanks, Chris!
Reminds me I must take some photos of the black oak trim, as someone was asking after it! Had a tasty Indian meal in a restaurant in St. Andrews whilst up that way. St. Andrews really is spoilt for choice on the restaurant front, though £4+ for a pint of lager takes some getting used to...the drinks bill was more than the food bill :( |
