190 pad clips

Do the 190 ZT brakes/pads need metal spring clips where the tabs on the pads slide in the caliper, or is there just the outer metal spring clip in the whole standard assembly?

Maybe I am thinking of the older ZS 180 where the pads also sat in right angled spring steel clips which inserted into the carrier.....

You are thinking of the much higher quality Lucas brakes, the gash ATE items fitted to the R40 has no such refinement, cheap and nasty ;)

Cheers Brian, cheap and nasty it sure is.

they are used in some BMWs (carriers are different though) 330, Z4 stick in my head. Likewise repair kits list BMW models too.

The front clips are the same design on the rear but smaller too. I never understood how they stop rattle or movement. They dont seem to put tension on anything  (EDIT see it now! :duh:)
