Damsel in distress
I've waited a long time for this to happen to me.
On returning to my car in the supermarket car park this evening I noticed a BMW 3 series with it's exterior lights flashing in the bizarre sequence which is familiar to many of we 75/ZT owners with a flat battery. Suspecting that the owner may be thinking that the car's electronics had suffered a major failure I went over to offer an explanation, if required. Fortunately the reason was known to the driver but she was displeased at having to wait an hour and a quarter for RAC assistance. I therefore offered my services which were accepted. I drove home to pick up my jump leads and returned. Although BMW have hidden the battery in a secret location in this car (I'm sure someone will tell me where) they had provided a handy jump starting terminal under the bonnet. In no time at all my Citroen's battery (which isn't a Bosch by the way) had the ultimate driving machine running again. The owner thanked me generously and departed. I must admit that I was a little disappointed that she didn't offer to buy me a bottle of single malt in the adjacent supermarket! :D Seriously though, it's nice when someone allows you to do them a favour isn't it. Wow, think of the brownie points had you had a 75? Well done though. Clever to have a jump start terminal, though the battery is normally in the boot of BMW.

Well done. When I last helped a “damsel in distress” it was to change a flat tyre. It was a daughter taking her Mum out.
Didn’t take long - and well worth the effort as it was clear it was a special day for the Mum - what I never found out and I didn’t ask. |
Having a late E90 I can tell you the battery is in the boot, and when a new battery is fitted to the E90 you need to register the battery to the car, very important on efficient dynamics models due to charging rates for battery regeneration,

A lovely story Simon, and very kind of you to help her out .

Damsel in distress
The auxiliary belt in my auto 75 decided it wanted to part company with the car on Monday night, just as I started to reverse out of a supermarket/ takeaway joint.
After lifting the bonnet, and shaking the head, as you do, the chap in the car next to me asked what was up. When I told him, he just asked if there was anything he could do, and offered to give me a lift to anywhere I wanted to go. So nice to be on the receiving end of people’s curtesy and generosity.👍 I had a mate to help me out, so I sincerely thanked him for his offer, but told him I was ok.....and then proceeded to whack into a special fried rice in the car 😱, while I waited for the tow truck. No point in letting it go cold.😳 ( the crankshaft pulley had failed, taking the belts out).🙄 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
