As with the earlier posting, I would suggest that you check the connections at the gear box end of the cables, sometimes they can come off, and may need a bit of persuasion to go back on.

Have you tried running the engine at 3k revs whilst stationary? If there is nothing this may indicate that airflow is the cause of vibration in the bodywork rather than mechanical.

Try bleeding the clutch as if that helps, it's a cheaper option. It can be done, and with a vizibleed kit, on your own. (just have some plasters ready for the dodgy areas around the top of the clutch...

Just to reassure me, I think these cables for the manual gearbox selector lever, that connect to the actual gearbox, are the same for the 1.8 and 2 litre petrol as well as the diesel 2 litre?
