No Sorry Paul. The two screws mentioned give you access to change the bulb and clean the contacts up. Any other investigation requires the removal of the bootlid liner. Once you have removed that there a four 10mm nuts to remove. Be carefull not to drop them inside the boot lid. Disconnect the two wires you can see disappearing through the boot skin to the number plate light. The rear light chrome cover should come away then and leave the little circuit board and holders in place but more often than not and the one on mine it didn't. I had to carefully use a stanley knife to cut through the foam behind the board and remove it as one. Once you have it in your hand you will see what a poor thing it is.
