No such thing. (and that includes Apples, as they are now more or less the same as a high end PC, the only difference now is the OS)
Dell are ok, as are home made ones, but just how old was your old one? As mentioned already, sticking a new hard drive in would cure that problem (unless of course there was a motherboard/PSU problem that caused the failure in the first place)
Data loss is a sign of an impending hard drive crash, disconnecting from the internet is not always a computer problem, (there are many reasons for that) and without seeing the PC first hand I am not going to speculate on it, but random crashing also can signify a dodgy hard drive or even be as simple as a badly installed OS and drivers.
It seems daft to kill off an otherwise fine PC because of a dodgy drive, but get the ram checked out as well.
