If I had a stolen car, let's say a face-lift ZT in ignition blue for example, and I wanted to pass it off as legal, I wouldn't walk the streets looking for another one so that I could make a note of its registration number. Instead, I would get onto the interweb and type in 'MG ZT ignition blue face-lift' and look for a picture of one that has the registration plate on show.

For this reason I choose not to display my reg. number on uploaded pictures of my car and I would be disappointed if someone 'spotted' me and posted up my full reg. number for all to see.

Well the obvious happened, the rear view mirror filled with blue strobes and flashing headlights, the following conversation of .... pc "good afternoon sir" me "don't tell me, the number plate" pc " yes it's erm" me " it's an oblong one stuck over an old cherished number, not changing it till my number arrives"
" I have ID on me etc....would you like a look" pc " No sir you're fine.... no need, nice car, 1st time I have stopped one of these....." a brief conversation about dying breeds and quality took place and one happy pc (with a not so happy wpc probably thinking 'here they go talking cars' turned off the blues and left with a big smile.
Great story!

I once got 'pulled' by an officer of the law whilst riding my Honda FireBlade. He walked over and said "Nice bike...I like the way you quickly got into top gear to keep the illegal exhaust as quiet as possible...that's what I do", then went on to tell me about a time when he was pulled for speeding and said "I was giving it some, like you would have been on those back lanes a few minutes ago", followed by "I told him that I was also a copper and showed him my ID but the b@5tard still gave me a ticket".
After a few minutes chatting he said "Enjoy the rest of your ride", then got back in his car and drove off.
