Not always true. Some memory cards have to be upgraded in pairs or replaced completely.

For example, if you had, say 512K of memory installed and you wanted 2Gig then it's not simply a case of buying three more 512K cards. You'd probably (depending on who makes them) have to buy two 1Gig cards or one 2Gig card.

It gets a bit tricky unfortunately.

And then there's the getting the right one (as Mike asked originally) which also can get complicated.
