I am afraid it looks as if you will have to resort to having this investigated and treated privately. Although expensive, its benefit in terms of the speed, assurance that it is being sorted and relief will make you realise what a good investment it is.

I had to have a hernia op three years ago, the pain was incredible and I just couldn't face the 6-8 month waiting time to have the required surgery under the NHS. I was able to see a specialist within three days, the test results were back the following day and the surgery was done after a further four days. Cost was £3,250.

Yes, I too had paid the full amount into the system and had to deal with the initial resentment I felt, but that is now behind me and I realise more and more that the NHS is ultimately broken in its current state and whilst in some instances its treatment is exemplary, this unfortunately is one of those many situations where it can't be relied upon.

(I don't want to get into a political argument here over my comments, I am just relaying my personal experience and trying to extend my sympathy to Wes and suggest a possible solution)
Thank you ever so much for your post Jim, it means a lot. You have captured exactly how I feel, your story has given me hope. The wife and I have spoke in length today about what my next options are (if any). I suppose I better wait and see if my GP will (or can) refer me to the urologist again. Just lately it seems GP's have little or no power to help the ill, they seem helpless to the point of them not existing...

I've said this before and I will say it again, animals (pets) get better treatment than us humans. I know vet bills are not cheap, but even the animal charities offer exceptional free service in care of a pet.

Thanks again, it means alot.
I've actually run-out of 'Thanks'

Thanks Adrian, I will mention this to my GP.

Excess levels can also cause Gout.
I've had a few urine tests overt the years, also one just before Christmas, they always come back normal (not even signs of an infection). The doc still gave me some strong antibiotics, he says an infection can be underlying, doesn't always show-up on tests... My reply was... what for 10 whole years...

I just dont get it...
