One of the first cars my brother bought was a Singer Gazelle. Cost him around £30 if I recall. He spent some time "doing it up" before trying to sell it to me (I was 15 at the time!) telling me "it just needs the tappetts doing, it's easy"

I was far from convinced of this, so declined his generous offer and the car was scrapped. I can't remember if it ever got driven on the open road - I think it may have made it once or twice
. Lovely car though.
