As you have not given any description of the problems with your head , I am guessing that the head has been skimmed before and your's have problems around your fire ring area of your head .

As VVC heads are somewhat more difficult to obtain ,if the above is the case have you thought about an engineering solution to recover you head and keep your car original
Inserts can be fitted into the head which replace the damaged area around the fire ring area.
It may not be the answer to your problems but may be another avenue worth an enquiry
