Right, I must add something here.
In the end of MGR they sourced a lot of parts from India, China, Taiwan etc.
Cost saving on about 10p per part.
A lot of what you call OE ( as supplied to Longbridge ) the manufacturer went bust at the demise of MGR. As they were struggling for money as well, they weighed to tooling in for scrap. So that no longer exists.
Now after being in the sheet metal industry for circa 50 years, I can tell you now no company in there right mind would retool it !
The cost would be astronomical!!
Then parts manufacturers have what is called MOQ.
Minimum Order Quantity.
Unless you want a thousand at least, They will not even consider changing their press tooling.
So parts suppliers do their best to keep cars these on the road.
Bet you can,t get genuine OE if you have Triumph Spitfire either.
I agree labelling should be different.
I suppose they could just make the part NLA.
But if you can go out and find OE ( as in supplied to Longbridge ) , good luck !
The companies don,t exist !
Must add when China came in and stripped Longbridge a lot of tooling went with them.
So now even if it is off the original tooling, It will say Made In China !!!!
