Up to date and make sense.
Not really fair comparing the running costs of a basic diesel BMW with a 400bhp SUV that can do 0-60 in 4.7 seconds!

For a slightly fairer comparison I recently did a run to Stanstead and back and the total cost including a few minutes on the Tesla supercharger was £11. Even in our diesel Mini it would have been at least £25 for the same journey and we would have been far less comfortable.

Charging away from home has always been the most difficult aspect of owning an EV however things are getting better pretty quickly now. We regularly drive from Bath to Norfolk and when we first got the ZS 2 years ago heading up the M11 there was only 1 slow charger (50Kw) at Birchanger and then nothing until we got to our home charger so we had to make sure we could take enough power to make the journey which took ages. Now there are 4 additional 150kw+ chargers between Birchanger and our house so loads more options. We've also now switched from the ZS which charged at 50kw and had a real world range of 130 miles at motorway speeds to an MG4 long range which can easily do well over 200 miles and charges at 135kw.
