Oddly enough, although I have IS permanently engaged on all my lenses, I haven't yet managed to use up the first charge in my battery grip.

Those batteries just seem to be going on forever.

Having used IS, I'll not be buying a non IS version of any lens in future if there is an IS version available.

The only thing I discovered is that it NEEDS to be switched off if using a tripod, otherwise the whole shebang becomes mightily confused .
