The connector I'm thinking of has two rectangular buttons which have to be simultaneously squeezed to release the connector from the flange on the end of the pipe. I doubt that this has worn out but I always find it very stiff to operate. Try a little lubrication which should make the connection easier and more secure. I suspect that it has been removed in the past and not put back properly hence the smell of petrol.

Hi Simon, thaks for quick reply yes that is the correct connection im after ive had a good look at it but it looks like someone has used a screwdriver on it and mauled it up a fair bit, i tried pressing it in and on and off a few times but i think its lost its grip after being mauled.

i was thinking something like this if i can get correct size https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164569046...CABEgIgqPD_BwE

cheers julian
