On a serious note, I think the information provided by mss regarding the ratio of Engineering graduates to vacancies is quite alarming.
Having a degree used to be something for the small minority, but now it seems that every Tom, Dick or Harry goes to University.
(This is the bit that they do after the school leavers' ball and the gap year.

IMHO this rather devalues a degree.
I suppose it is a good job that there are now plenty of universities.
It seems to me that many of the Technical colleges that used to for day release and night school have now become universities.
The college I attended, in High Wycombe has now morphed into the "
Buckinghamshire New University"
The building shown in 1907, is where I went to do the Friday night school session, whilst everyone else was having fun!
The figures clearly prove that there are not enough positions to fulfil the amount of people being educated to degree level and I wonder if we have got the training right?
