Yeah I'm coming round to the fact that its just bad timing! I think its a new resistor for the 2 speed and some new brushes for the 3 speed and definitely regular checks on the coolant level and temp!!
BTW Arctic helped me last year with a fan problem and has given me lots of advice on here as well, a good man indeed
