Mine looked the same when a few weeks back when i removed the wheels to clean them, i ended up changing the whole subframe with upper arms, lower arms, and drop links as an whole unit.

The more you poked the worst it got.

But the under side was solid so that is why a lot get passed in the MOT.

I should imagine quite a few cars are running about with the inner cup section rusted out.
