Quite correct, that is where the traction control butterfly is fitted. Just a common body casting.

Bastelmann, No you cannot remove those plastic parts, they are cast in-situ with the arms during manufacture. I did remake some as part of a throttle body remake. A complex assembly that used mechanical fixings and a space filling resin mix with specially turn parts..

Refinish appears to be bright zinc plating (BZP) with a brown passivation.
