Have not had an open fire for some years, but the likelihood of power cuts this winter persuaded me to have my chimneys swept (cannot remember when they were last done). Not cheap as I have six in total, but I do like to be prepared! 2 tonnes of coal in the barn and a load of logs should keep the electricity on!
