Last time I had the seat out was to fix the fuel pump displacement issue. It actually took me longer to remove and replace the seat than it did to fix the fuel pump (had an aweful job trying to refit the seat) so I eventually fastened two long cable ties (about 15" long) to the seat springs and threaded them up/behind the seat back and sound deadening. Clip a mole grip to the tie end and a good tug from the boot end whilst an assistant bears down gently on the back of the seat seems to do the trick and just leave the two ties in place (poking out 4-5" into the rear/floor of the boot space) for next time.
