This could be injector leakback, a lazy fuel pump, or cam shaft sensor.

A leak back test can be done fairly easily.
A fuel pump could be not running properly, so the car just doesn't start (a silent pump, or really noisy pump would suggest this)
Cam shaft sensors can also cause issues, but normally only when the engine is warm.
