Another way to repair the electric motors is to dis assemble the motor and if you have any spare motors, you can swap the brushes over.Its fiddly but works.
In the end alot easier just to replace the unit.

The pin is held in place by a simple starlock washer that will more often than not split when you remove it. Starlock washers are readily available, easy to fit and are pennies

Every one I have taken apart and investigated has been the motor brushes that have failed with little or no damage to the rest of the motor. I am in the lucky position of having dozens of these in stock from old Vis motor motors that are stripped out on refurbs of my vis motors, so that is always the initial way to go for me.
