I wouldn't have thought you have anything to bring to the table really, unless you know why the OP's key number two had a data fault, which I obviously reset then subsequently tested, as evidenced with his ECU set happily starting and running my own 75 1800 which hasn't turned a wheel since October last year.

So the questions are

1 - What do we think caused the original corruption of the key transponder assigned to slot two of the EWS?

2 - Do we treat this corruption as a symptom of an underlying cause other than the usual suspect of repeated attempts to start the car with a discharged battery?, and if so what do you think may be the cause in this case?

I await your learned answer with bated breath
