I made a similar mistake some years ago when I helped someone out who was also in the transport business. After numerous requests for payment, I ended up taking him to court, gaining him a CCJ. Unfortunately, I subsequently found out that there were 22 (yes, twenty-two
) others ahead of mine...
Never got my money and the court process just added to my costs. But since then it's payment up front, or I simply don't do the job. Just not worth the hassle and time it takes to chase.
