This does indeed generate a lot of debate over the 6 year rule , and I have never yet found a belt which was in bad condition just because of its age . However , I do support the 6 year frequency as it gives an opportunity to check the condition of the idler and drive pulleys with the belt tension removed , which I have found to be at bigger risk than the belts themselves
If you are taking it to a garage , choose your garage with care ! Experience is what you are looking for .
