It is indeed that tab that has broken and I have never seen a broken one either.
There is no obvious wear or burning of any sort and as I replaced the last one 8 years ago, the torque would have been correct.
I can feel the bearing is damaged (high spot) and am sure that the bits from the broken tab have over time damaged the bearing, it would not take much after-all.
Strange that not all wheel bearing thrust washer have the tab, I do wonder why as well really.
New one available from Rimmers at £2.40 and £6 for quicker delivery...
