I wired mine up with a relay for this reason.

Am not sure if you are thinking I have connected to the electric aerial/amplifier switching wire (thin blue), or not here. The switched live on our cars (and any ISO wiring equipped car I have worked on since 1992 - yellow or red coloured sheath) has been 12v constant whilst active ie key pos I. I do always confirm this, as some manufacturers will use yellow for switched, whilst other use red. It has been fine now for the past 2.5 years of using it.
I have habitually tested/confirmed this since having been called upon to correct a failed installation in a non ISO 90s Primera taxi. The fitter for our company had wired up the neg to the illumination wire!!!
So when the taxi driver went out on his night shift, all the lights failed the instant he turned on his sidelights!
