My dad used to struggle with seeing the clips, until he bought a standard pair of reading glasses. His varifocals only worked for close up when looking down at things through the bottom (varifocal) part of the lenses. When looking upwards at anything the distance part only works. Just a suggestion and not trying to be funny!
