I had long term shoulder pain, I'd damaged something within the joint itself, because there was no blood supply to the damaged area painkillers did nothing. Never reached a real conclusion, it faded itself but rears its ugly head every time I do something strenuous with the arm, particularly lifting anything above shoulder height.
