Default kv6 hydraulic cam followers - refitting ?

I am rebuilding the heads on my kv6 and have finally got the valves back in the head ( those collets are fun ! ) . Ready to refit the hydraulic followers but wondering what is best practice ? I have seen many opinions that they need to be immersed in oil and "pumped up " prior to fitting , but Haynes and Rave say to just oil them up well and refit in original locations , leaving the engine to pump them up .
What do those who tinker with these think ?
