My exhaust was knocking on the cross member due to tired rubber hangers. Solution was to undo the clamp to the rear silencer, new hangers, a block of 1" thick wood placed on top of the cross member and then re-tighten. It's now become my routine when helping local members change the rear silencer to always have a block of wood there before tightening the clamp.

Could I just check Mike, would the wooden piece be sandwiched between the cross member and the back box? Probably stating the obvious, but thought it worth a check…
