May I just check, is the EGR valve (and it’s bypass kit) the same on the earlier Cdt, and the (my) later 2005 Cdti?
I’m getting confused messages from eBay at the moment.
If anyone can let me know when convenient.
Thanks Steve D

Hi Steve.
Personally i would remove the manifold along with the EGR from the car, once you have it off the car, remove the MAP sensor on the side 10mm bolt, wipe it clean with a rag with some carb cleaner on it do not poke anything into the hole.

here you can see how the MAP sensor gets blocked up, and a clean one next to it.
3

Then remove the EGR four bolts or four Allen key bolts.
4

Clean and dirty one side by side, these can be cleaned out with time and patience, use an old tooth brush with Swarfega, if the EGR is really caked in gunk, then scrap it out first with an old hack saw blade, the n do the above, very time consuming job and very messy wear gloves.

6

next remove the manifold seal rings they can be used again once wiped clean.

It is pointless just removing the EGR and replacing it with a by pass one as the manifold & MAP sensor will be blocked up anyway 99.9% of the time.

when you have cleaned the manifold, EGR & MAP sensor refit to the car.

The manifold can be cleaned out with oven cleaner foam, let it soak, for a few hours then jet wash it out repeat if you have to.

If our meet were still operating i carry them with me. for exchange, some with the original EGR gutted so it is a bypass EGR.

So if you do go for an EGR bypass as the one below, which fits the CDT or the CDTi remember you have only changed out the EGR the manifold & MAP would still be blocked up.
