The Instrument Pack acts as a Gateway to all the Bus systems of the car and so needs to be coded to the vehicle in order for it to recognise and talk to all the ECUs.

You have to either obtain a brand new uncoded Instrument Pack or 'virginise' an existing one from a donor car before you can then transfer the code of the existing one on to the substitute.

I'm not sure how easy a job that would be using TOAF, but I know a man who would know, Rick-sta specialises in IPKs and the de-lining there of on the faulty screens.

It may be simpler to just replace the screen on your existing IPK which Rick does offer as a service when he has stock. I myself have just come back from his today with two new line free message centre displays on my existing instrument packs. I'll post pictures in a separate thread Here

But before embarking on a TOAF session with a used IPK, I'd definitely recommend having a discussion with Rick-sta first to see what's involved.
