One of mine has already been fixed with a drilled metal bracket bolted AND bonded to the remains of the original plastic bracket. I had to fix another one myself, the night before going away on holiday in the car, using Araldite and steel washers. No doubt I'll have to do further work using metal brackets.
What's really valuable to me are the ideas for sourcing both the material for a bracket and the socket. The use of a Rawlplug is sheer brilliance. Good stuff. Thanks.

Work still in progress as i have yet not had time to try and fit and see if the rawplug is ok fir size etc.

Thank you for the suggestion every bit helps maybe use those small furniture felt pads which can be either stuck to the body over the fixing hole, or the bracket hole Arctic.
