1. Change away from an ISP supplied router to something decent - there is a reason most ISP routers are free/almost free!
2. If you can, have some cat6 network cabling installed, you can then use an old router in access point mode to improve coverage (in essence, creating a second hotspot but with the same name so your devices will transfer seamlessly)
3. If (2) is not possible, powerline adapers are a good cheap, easy fix - but they work best when both socket outlets are on the same power circuit.
