I see Simon has already raised the possibility of a K bus fault. Does your car have a fuel burning heater?
I had some strange electrical events which stopped after unplugging the FBH - I never figured out what the problem with the FBH was as it was removed from the car and is currently somewhere in the spares box awaiting fitting to my current car... another to do with too little time and enthusiasm for it
