My 2001 mk1 conny has the clips on both driver and passenger sides as original equipment . The holes in the mats fit over them then the clip twists to lock them in .
The originals were ash grey and I bought a set of burgundy ones a while back to match the car colour ; they were bought from an MG Rover garage and described as ex-factory stock , but interestingly proved to have smaller holes which did not fit over my original clips . Might the fittings have changed over the years , or perhaps I got the Indian Variant ?
