Hi folks,
I just took my driver's side (left) tail light out again - hopefully for the last time (until another bulb blows). I got an ABS sensor from Rimmer Bros and figured I'd get 4 of the tail light retainers while I was at it (now have 2 spares). The old retainers were firmly attached to the balls of the light assembly
- so much so that I needed pliers to get them removed. This is surely why the tabs break off the retainers inside the bodywork.
I used a 3/16" drill bit in a chuck turned by hand (no drill) and reamed out the new retainer sockets accordingly. Hopefully the next time the light needs to come out the retainer will release it. The light is securely mounted now by the top screw through the newly made computer drive bay tab and the two ball socket retainers. The broken bottom tab has just enough edge left to fit behind the screw which is now permanently attached to the car
.
Cheers,
Glenn
