Okay, just got off the phone to Jessops in Birmingham (didn't catch his name)
I have to take the lens to them, pay a £25 deposit and they then send it off to Nikon (Johnson's?) who then quote me the repair cost, if I go ahead and have the work done the £25 is deducted from the final fee, if I decide not to have it done I lose the £25. in his experience these type of jobs usually end up being more than my particular lens is worth (to me at least)
Bearing in mind that I paid £100 for it and if the cost of cleaning is more than £50 It loses value as such (I can buy a brand new one from Jessops for £150 ish (probably cheaper in other places)
I'm now undecided on what to do
