Stepper motor, adjusts the idle depending on the engine load, lights, aircon etc, needs a T4 to set it to a baseline. When I got my 1.8T years ago I had a badly wandering idle and took it to Brian. He discovered the stepper motor had never been adjusted, he'd never seen one so far out of adjustment.
