Perhaps you don’t like what I’m saying but I speak as someone who has seen so much poverty in my travels and who doesn’t want to see increases in the UK.

Green policies pushing up energy bills. Wonder how that's going to affect the cost of running BEVs....

Lets see what profit the energy (gas, water and electric) companies show at end of financial year.
I can see more people having to decide if to stay warm or not. We have struggled to stay warm and stay warm at a reasonable cost this winter. I now keep my eyes peeled for free wood for the log burner and central heating.
2021 was a shock with the electric bill. Still think all new builds should have solar panels fitted but as they are so inefficient they wont solve the problem either at the moment. The cost fitting of solar panels has to come down so it is more attractive to home owners.

The red diesel restriction - ostensibily to reduce emissions (lol) is going to affect costs in many areas. Ironically many of those areas have no choice for the energy source, so CO2 output won't reduce as much. People living off grid that depend on diesel are going to be hit extremely hard.

Maybe - however that would make it easier for them to turn off the gas in their zealous goal to achieve a reduction in world wide co2 emission of less than 1% by martyring the country.

Really? They were that badly run that they had huge value when the tories sold them off...

What the UK really needs is mandatory good insulation on all new builds. I think the ‘mu’ values in older houses are fairly poor, hence layered clothing or a snug are essential unless one has money to burn.

The UK does now have mandatory good insulation on new builds. Unfortunately builders are paying lip-service to the requirements and getting away with it.

Only cable, poles and tower legs where run into the ground.

And very well they were too. :-)

Hear hear!

The best 1/3 of each year have worked extremely hard to achieve their absolute best including attending optional online lessons with myself during school holidays, evenings and so on.

I cannot say the same about all the grown ups that I come across. They all think they are worldly wise, they know everyone else's job better than the person doing the job, they are opinionated and generally anti-social. The worrying thing is that I belong to this age group!

True. However University graduates only account for the top 25-30% of the adult population.

If that does not concern you financially, you are more at ease with it then I am. I find that very concerning.

If I end up skint while working a professional job - I'll retire on the dole early - might as well.
