Hi Scott,

It's best to be sure about this so ask an assistant to press the windscreen demist button on and off whilst you listen at the open bonnet for a thud. Slightly more involved but 100% reliable is to remove the OSF wheel arch liner so that you can see the compressor clutch clearly.

If the compressor isn't engaging then you've most likely lost your refrigerant. Remember that when the fan doesn't run you won't get terribly cold air unless the car is moving at speed.
