No, don't take the front off: you'll lose the rigidity.
Sometimes that rear bearing can wear, as suggested by others. If it's a screeching type noise it'll probably be the "jockey wheels", ie, the tensioner. When looking for guidance online, do use the model number. Site diynot.com is very useful.
