Yes, that is what I suspected. And I would bet that if Pete posted on page 2 with his HTTP sig pic then page 2 would open the padlock too.

It is not the site's doing. Browsers no longer like HTTP and the Geeks behind the move to HTTPS did not in my view give enough thought to the practical drawbacks. If the site's server is running on Apache software there might be a workaround with a script change, but it is a workaround which I think accepts HTTP in addition to HTTPS without triggering the padlock to open and the associated warnings. But I could be wrong and stand to be corrected by someone who is more knowledgeable on the matter.
