Well I must be getting old as these days I prefer the auto box.
As mentioned, go for a test drive - the way the box handles cruise control is pretty dire, but if you can put up with that it is fine.
Costs a bit more in fuel and tax too, but then again you don't have to worry about changing slave cylinders.
