Car ownership may well have peaked? Politicians and eco warriors are now looking to reduce car ownership in spite of cleaner cars emerging over the next 10 to 20 years.
Most of us are probably old enough to have done the trips around the UK in a Morris 1100 with more P38 in the wings than steel. My first car. I do look back with Rose tinted glasses at my early motoring and wonder how the hell I got anywhere in such shabby cars. Taught me a few lessons in how to repair and maintain!
Conversely cars are so complicated now they are more reliable but a devil to fix with big bills.
Yes the golden age is already over.
