The only negative that springs to mind is the fact that insurance companies class it as a modification. Other than that it does no harm, egr is just a way of asking an engine to eat it’s own excrement. As for which one, I think they’re all much of a muchness. A cheaper alternative I’d to unplug the solenoid & clean the valve out & make sure it shuts
