I think responders are confused, as am I - your car is either a 1.8 petrol or 2.0 diesel.

Arctic asked who gave you this information, but sadly no answer so it leaves us guessing as to the value of the information.

But just 20 mins up the road in Newton Abbot you've Exeter Road Garage, they have a Rover diagnostic computer that can pin-point the source of the problem, or at least set you on the right course, maybe even fix the problem while you have a look around Trago's.
